Recovering one wounded US airman from inside Iran cost at minimum two MC-130J transport aircraft (over $100 million each), an A-10, and multiple helicopters. No outlet except The American Conservative ran the tab. The White House press conference called it "one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in US history" with no mention of the losses.

Two US citizens -- Renée Good, shot January 7 by ICE agent Jonathan Ross, and Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse shot January 24 by CBP officers while filming agents in Minneapolis -- are the specific trigger for the DHS shutdown standoff that just became the longest partial government shutdown in US history, yet neither killing appears in today's MAGA or conservative coverage of that shutdown.

The Atlantic and The American Conservative both concluded today that the Iran war represents a strategic failure, though for incompatible reasons: The Atlantic frames it as Trump betraying his non-ideological populist coalition, while The American Conservative frames it as Israel successfully maneuvering the US into fighting its proxy war. Two publications that agree on almost nothing landed in the same place.

Lockheed Martin announced on March 25 a framework to quadruple Precision Strike Missile production capacity -- the same weapon the US fired at approximately half its combined inventory in the war's first 16 days -- while the Pentagon simultaneously requested an additional $200 billion in war funding on top of its $1 trillion annual budget.
